I got a Raise and a Office With A View!!



Today is a very SPECIAL DAY for me!!
Today Marks 2 years since I was able to quit my full time position at the Pinetree Spa.

I worked for this particular spa for many years and I really enjoyed the close location to my home and the clients I had. It was a quiet "spa like" environment in a office building that had 2 windows.
1 at the front desk and 1 in the owners office.

I worked Tuesday thru Saturday and with set up and clean up, I worked about 55 hours a week and still had no wiggle room in my income and no sunlight on my face!!! LOL!

If I didn't work I didn't get paid and I would hustle all day long to fit in as many clients as I could to make the most of my income.

 I saw little room for growth for my family this way and even considered bartending again to make extra income in the evenings, but I didn't want to spend more time away from my Husband.

I started working as a Beachbody coach for the discount on shakeology.... BUT in two years time I was able to pay off debt, get more wiggle room in my income and save up enough money to leave this full time job for a better environment just up the road a little at Halo Salon and Spa.




My goal was never to quite my job but to make it work for me and my life.
Making people feel good inside and out and not having a Job but "working" doing what I love.
Now I get to work from home 3 days a week and outside of the home at the Spa 3 days a week.

2 years ago this was a very scary step for me to take.

It was the fear of the unknown!!
Would I make enough?
Could I do It?
Will we lose our house???
Scary Right!!

But I DID IT!!
You bet I did and I was able to Triple my Income!

I Got a OFFICE with a VIEW!!

I encourage you to face your fear of the what ifs!!
You never know where you will be and when you will be the one in need of a change.

Coach Highlight: My Sister and her Pregnancy while Working out and drinking Shakeology.


Meet my Sister Angie Bates! 
She is a coach on my team and is currently pregnant with niece! 
Since I have never been and have been told it would be difficult to even get pregnant with my particular history of early on PCOS, I wanted to reach out to her to have a little Q and A on how she has continued to focus on her health while creating a baby!! 


My sister has always had a passion for fitness. 
She has a college education for health and fitness and is an ACE (American Council on Exercise)  Personal trainer. 
She is a certified  PiYo, and P90X instructor. 

Since my Brother in law and her Husband moved locations last November for his job from Charlotte, NC  to New York, she has been able to teach and train 100% online as a Star Diamond Coach in her Beachbody business.  
It has been a blessing to her and her growing family to be able to make an income from home on her time through this pregnancy!!

Working out while pregnant has so many benefits. 
  • It will help with gaining unnecessary extra weight from possibly over eating. 
  • It helps to reduce pain in your lower back and joint.

  • Helps you sleep. 
  • Helps you to maintain your flexibility. 

Studies have shown that it will help you to have easier labor, and will help you to bounce back after the baby is here!!









I like The 21 day fix because she gives plenty of rest periods between each set. Which is needed because your heart rate increases and you lose your breath fast while pregnant so it doesn't push you too hard. 

You can modify the movements by lowering the weights or no weights, you can take out the jumping movements as you become farther along.

Piyo is great because of it's stretch and strength concept. 
It also allows you to bring up your heart rate like a cardio would do without the pounding on your joints like other cardio workouts. 

Stretching is key to staying flexible especially in the hips and legs for labor.

"If you are not a weight lifter this is a great way to build body strength by using your own body weight. Some modification will be needed as you progress such as doing side planks instead of front planks, modifying with knees on the ground while doing push-ups. 

These are just a few examples, because it really depends on the pregnant mothers abilities and if they worked out on a regular basis before becoming pregnant. 


 I think the biggest thing to stress is to listen to your own body and also clear it with the doctor."
 



I am an Excited AUNT!!! I can Hardly WAIT!! 
I think it is great that when you have the energy you can continue to focus on your health when it is MOST important!! I am excited to meet my niece and it has been so exciting getting to see my sister create life!! Find Freedom while making a income!

What does the word Freedom Mean to you?

As I sit here thinking about that phrase I thought to myself, HOW many PEOPLE right now at this very moment get anxiety when they go to to work every morning, whether it's because they have to leave their kids again at daycare or they are going to a job that belittles them, make them feel worthless or that they have NO passion for?  
How many people dream of freedom, dream of happiness, dream of waking up to no alarm but by their own creative thoughts. 
 The thought of working towards someone else's agenda or dreams just makes me cringe.  
Instead think of what it would be like to wake up to build your own dream, your own future and your own Freedom!  If any of this right here is speaking to you then I challenge you to think it through.  Get out a piece of paper and write down your dreams, your wants your needs, you're NICE TO HAVES.

Fiesta Salmon ~ 21 Day fix dinner!!

OOOH this is a Good one!! I love salmon but sometimes get tired of it just plain!! This fiesta salsa gave it a nice crisp, summery feel! It felt healthy and looked great on my plate! My husband Brian gave it two thumbs up so I decided to share it here with all of you!!

Good Clean food that is fast and easy!! WINNER WINNER!!! And 21 day fix approved!

Fiesta Salmon ~ 21 Day Fix Dinner 




Fiesta Salmon

2 Servings 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 4oz Salmon Filet (Skin on) 
  • 1  Green Bell Pepper, diced small
  • 2 Roma Tomatoes, diced small 
  • 1/2 Red Onion, diced small 
  • 4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped 
  • Juice of 2 Fresh Limes 
  • 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil 
  • Pepper and Pink Himalayan Sea Salt to taste.

Directions: 

Pre Heat oven to 450o 
Rinse and pat dry Salmon filets place in baking dish (skin side down) do not let filets touch.
Combine all remaining ingredients into a bowl, spoon the fiesta mixture over top each Salmon Filet.
Bake 12 - 15 min or until fish flakes easily covered.

Ready For the Oven! 


Serve with brown rice or quinoa, and fresh lime wedge!! I needed an extra green container for the 21 day fix so I added some steamed green beans too!!

Here is WHY!!!

We have had CRAZY start to this New Year with family illness due to cancer, Both Parents in Care centers, The death of my father-in-law,and the madness has unfortunately not stopped just yet...
With some bad news we received last week.

Yes I allowed my old way to creep back in and unfortunately turned to bad food choices and much more alcoholic beverages than I would like to admit here publicly!!

I have forgiven myself and given myself the power back!!
I have to focus on myself so that I can be the best version of me in order to be able to take care of everyone around me.

I am human and sometimes as hard as it is to admit mistakes or defeat I have also learned that this makes me human.

I own it and at the time it was all I had in me to fight what was going on......

I started to fuel my mind with personal development after my father in law passed, I knew that I needed to be the strong one for my husband and I needed to also find that strength back for me.

I needed to fuel my mind and body to feel good, wake up with encouragement and not self hate or beat myself up for my past.

I think that in life you will always have some BIG Highs and some terrible lows... but fighting and crawling your way out is where the magic happens.

So today for me is Day 1!! I have baby stepped my way back and I feel I am at a place to go ahead full steam!!

Sure I may make mistakes along the way... but I will not let a bad moment define me. I will get up dust myself off and continue pushing forward.

For me I feel best when I am taking care of my body inside and out!
I will workout to relieve stress 30 min each day with the 21 day fix.
I will follow the portioned controlled meal plan and share with you what I am eating throughout the day. I will fuel my body with a nutrient dense meal each day with shakeology for a better mind, more energy and balance for my medical needs.

I will push forward so that others can find the strength to do the same!
I have felt no greater Joy than when I am helping people and I will fight so that others can too.

One Skillet Cajun Flounder

Cajun spices, tomatoes, onions and peppers give any white fish extra pizazz and a little kick. 

Super easy and quick!

I try to incorporate fish in my diet at least twice a week, to keep it exciting I like to prepare it in different ways. This recipe is perfect for a busy weeknight meal, you can use any white fish such as sole or tilapia. 

Serve this with brown rice or quinoa to soak up the delicious sauce.

One Skillet Cajun Flounder

Ingredients: 

  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 4 (6 oz) pieces flounder fillets (or any white fish such as tilapia)
  • 3/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 3 cups tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Cajun spice seasoning

Directions:

In a deep skillet, cook onion and garlic in olive oil on medium heat for a few minutes until soft. Add tomatoes, peppers and spices, stir and cook until tomatoes are soft, about 2-3 minutes.

Lay fish fillets in the sauce, cover and cook on medium-low until fish flakes easily, approx 12-15. 
To serve, place fish on plate and spoon sauce on top.
